« Food for Thought: August 19, 2008 | Main | Puerto Rican Ump Fails in His Attempt to Screw the South Koreans! »

    August 23, 2008

The Messiah did not look the least bit amused.
    Slo Joe

"I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy," Biden said. "I mean, that's a storybook, man."
Biden said he was referring to a phrase used by his mother.
"My mother has an expression: clean as a whistle, sharp as a tack," Biden said."

Biden has made other questionable comments. In a June 2006 appearance in New Hampshire, the senator commented on the growth of the Indian-American population in Delaware by saying, "You cannot go into a 7-11 or a Dunkin' Donuts unless you have a slight Indian accent. Oh, I'm not joking."

Two months later, responding to a question in an August interview on Fox News Sunday, Biden was asked how a "Northeast liberal" could compete against more conservative southern candidates.

"Better than everybody else. You don't know my state. My state was a slave state. My state is a border state. My state is the eighth largest black population in the country. My state is anything from a northeast liberal state," Biden said.

He repeated the comment during a visit to South Carolina in December 2006 at an event before the Columbia Rotary Club, according to a story published in The State newspaper.
The State reported that Biden referred to Delaware as a "slave state that fought beside the North. That's only because we couldn't figure out how to get to the South. There were a couple of states in the way."
You can't make this stuff up!
CNN Video linked @ Belmont, I couldn't figure out how to do it here.

Yeah, Doug, I think the fun has just begun. The weirdest election year I can remember rolls along.

What will the radicals in Denver do? What will Hillary's people do?

Have you noticed that young Barry picked up grey hair on his Hawaiian Vacation?
Very Obvious if you're looking for it.
Even C-4 reminds us of this:

"In 36 years, Biden has many controversial votes and is well-remembered for presiding over the Bork and Thomas inquisitions, as well as reverting to the same two-faced smarminess with the Roberts and Alito hearings."
Some of that stuff ranged from stupid to mean, as I recall.
Biden vs Thomas, there's a mismatch!

J.B.- to me, based on this selection, it's either going to be Mitt Romney or perhaps even Fred Thompson- guys that can stand up to the great bloviator himself.

I doubt that any of your 3 VEEP guys are going to be chosen- will wager you an appetizer on that.

Just finished a conversation with a good friend and I've said to him previously that all McCain has to do is play it straight down the middle and he coasts home to victory.

But, this is a maverick kind of guy in the best sense of the word. Be the maverick, Johnny Mac -- pick a Governor! Bring a new face with you!

McCain Campaign Takes Aim at Obama-Biden

Running against Obama for the presidency, Biden said nominating someone without national security credentials would be a "tragic mistake" and said that the presidency "is not something that lends itself to on-the-job-training."

During one of the Democratic debates, Biden stood by comments about Obama that "I think he can be ready, but right now I don't believe he is. The presidency is not something that lends itself to on-the-job training."

In August, Biden was harshly critical of Obama's lack of experience, saying, "Having talking points on foreign policy doesn't get you there."

Is there a way to post links in comments?

I don't think so, Doug, but I'll check it out with Typepad to make sure.

Despite the Dems and the allied main stream media’s desperation to see Romney as McCain’s Veep, Mitt is clearly out, with (1) Obama doubling down on the class warfare theme (McCain’s 7 houses) and (2) McCain doubling down with ads showing the hypocrisy of Biden attacking Obama in the primaries — Romney did way more than that contra McCain.

This leaves only Govs Sarah Palin and Tim Pawlenty. Pro-abortion Ridge and Dem-Lieberman were never real considerations, despite relentless media goading. Pawlenty’s lackluster TV performances, coupled with Palin pizzazz, the primacy of oil drilling and the ticked off women/Hillary voters, does now portend a McCain/Palin checkmate on the Dems. This is so albeit the Dems and liberal media dare not mention Palin’s name, that is, everyone but…..

And if there’s any question as to Palin being uniquely positioned and able to more than nullify Biden in debate, see the excellent discussion at

    Team McCain, well done!!!

    I hope you're right, Ted.

    Lord Bitememan

I'm definately with you on Palin as a pick. Whether she's still in contention or not, she makes a much more solid pick than any of the other names being bandied about.

Incidently, great blog, now on my favorites list.
